Roboticist and Tech Aficionado
The story relates a great accomplishment of the human body (in archery) which, before Arjun, was achieved only by the Gods. Robotics enthusiasts thrive on replicating such accomplishments to advance the field of robotics.Hemani entered a variety of robotics competitions starting at the young age of 12. The project ‘AR-Jen’ won the Indian Robot Olympiad (IRO) 2012 securing her and her team the second position at the National level after which she went on to represent India in the junior open category of the World Robotics Olympiad, held in Malaysia. This project explored the myriad theme of Indian mythology by taking the wonders of human capabilities and attempts, to decode and replicate it using the laws of physics and motion engineering. Her robot was also displayed at Techfest 2013, one of Asia’s largest science and technology festivals, in IIT Bombay. For Hemani, what began as a goal of building a robot to simulate a common human action, ended with an achievement of distinction. The robot AR-GEN, not only symbolically achieved Arjun’s feat by hitting the ‘fish eye’, it also won the hearts of the judges and the other robotics enthusiasts.
